Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal Tour & Crane Simulator Experience

We look forward to you joining us for an exclusive behind‑the‑scenes experience at the Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal (FACT) to celebrate the International Day for Women in Maritime.

This unique event is open to members and non‑members and offers a rare opportunity to see how one of South Australia’s most important maritime operations works up close and safely.

Event details

Location: Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal (FACT)
Who can attend: Members and non‑members welcome
Cost: WISTA Members $15, Non-WISTA Members $35 (Lunch includes shared entrees, a main, and a soft drink)
Dress: Closed‑toe shoes required, high-vis clothing and hard hat required (high‑vis vest and hard hat can be provided)

Please bring a government issued ID with photograph i.e. Driver's licence, Passport, MSIC

Event itinerary

10:00 am – Arrival at FACT

  • Attendees arrive at FACT Gate 3 carpark/security hut (6 Coghlan Rd, Outer Harbour, Adelaide South Australia 5018). Please arrive 10 minutes early to check in to security.
  • Parking either at Gate 3 Light vehicle entrance and carpark, or across the road parking is available on Coghlan Rd.)
  • Bus transfer to terminal area
  • Safety briefing on arrival

10:00 – 10:45 am – Escorted terminal bus tour

  • Guided tour of FACT operations
  • Learn about container logistics, safety systems, and terminal processes
  • Opportunities to view ship‑to‑shore cranes (subject to operational safety)

11:00 – 11:45 am – Training simulator experience

  • Briefing from FACT training staff
  • Hands‑on crane and straddle carrier simulator experience
  • Everyone gets a turn operating the simulator

12:00 – 1:00 pm – Networking lunch
