A cargo leaves a farm or mine, crosses an ocean, and changes hands half a dozen times, yet the Buyer and Seller may never see or touch it. So, who's actually in control of that cargo? Whomever holds the documents.

WISTA is delighted to invite you to Introduction to International Trading Contracts, presented by Sophie Drake, Principal of Drake Law and a trained maritime lawyer with 20+ years' international experience, including in trading houses.

In one fast-paced session, Sophie will unpack:

• How trading houses make money, and pass risk, at every point along the logistics chain.

• Bills of lading and documentary sales: Why paper can be decisive in any Seller-Buyer dispute.

• The hidden risks the documents don't show (weights, sampling and assays etc), and how to rebalance the power between Seller and Buyer

Whether you're a producer, or in shipping, logistics, or finance, this is all about the contractual machinery behind the trades, and the power of the Trading Houses.

This exciting learning opportunity will be held over a lunch in CBH's Boardroom:
